I have another review for you today, another highly raved about French product, the NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm. Again, I am originally a Parisian and so I know a little bit about Parapharmacies’ products, I use a fair amount of them.
I was always sticking to using basic Vaseline on my lips though, as they are extremely dry and chapped. Funnily enough, it’s not until earlier this year that I heard about this product on one of Lisa Eldridge‘s videos, before anyone else mentioned it. I decided to grab it when I next went back home to Paris.
After using it for a little while months ago, I just forgotten about it, I actually kind of didn’t like it, and couldn’t really see any improvement in my lips at all. I found it abandoned in a makeup bag last month and thought I’d give it another try.
The lip balm comes in a small frosted glass tub with a white plastic lid. It is very heavy for its tiny size. The lip balm itself is yellow and very thick, so thick that it’s not the easiest thing to smooth over your lips. It also feels a little grainy, just like set honey actually. I heard someone say it was exfoliating your lips as you’re applying it, I’d say I agree with this, to some extent.
Rêve de Miel leaves a matte layer on the lip, I find it is a nice change from most other lip balms or the glossiness I get from the Vaseline. It works very well as a base to my Laura Mercier Lip Stain Lip Shine.
The product is marketed ‘for dry or chapped lips‘, which I have. And the product works for that, if I apply it regularly, I find it last a fair amount of time on the lips so it’s not too often. Whilst it does work, I find myself reaching for plain Vaseline on my worst days as the NUXE lip balm doesn’t cut it for me when my lips are extremely dry. Some days it did just sit and flake on my lips…
Another thing I should mention is the smell, I don’t think it smell like honey, it’s more citrusy really, I’m not a huge fan of it but I don’t mind it either. If I had to pick I would have preferred it if it smelled like the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse, like some monoi oil. Maybe this would have made it a summer only lip balm though.
If you are curious to try the NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm they are available here. Though I haven’t tried this one, there is a tube version, more convenient and more practical to take in an on-the-go makeup bag.
If you have tried this product, please let me know how you got on with it.
