Christmas Gift Guide #4 – Cult products.

Hello everyone.

This is ‘Christmas Gift Guide‘ number 4, and today I’m focusing on beauty and makeup classics. Some products are considered cult products in the beauty world and though most of us know about them, I thought including them in one of the guides would be helpful to some of you.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat.

Well, we’ve all heard about this product and how it is “the UK’s No.1 Luxury Face Make-up Product” so if you know someone who doesn’t already own it, maybe that would be a superb Christmas present!

There are several gift sets available but I think the best one is the one pictured above. It includes the Touche Éclat in 1 and the Top Secrets Eye Wake-up Roll On; the set is worth £51 but can be bought on offer here for £37.85. Now the set will only be suitable for rather pale skins and if the person you’re buying for needs another colour, then you’ll need to buy the Touche Éclat by itself, here for £25.

Yves Saint Laurent Luxurious Mascara for a False Lash Effect.

This is another classic from YSL, and Christmas is a particularly good time to purchase this as it comes in gift sets. The one I’ve chosen is the cheapest set and costs £19.55 here, it contains the Luxurious Mascara for a False Lash Effect in High Intensity Black,  a Top Secrets Eye Makeup Remover (sample) and a Forever Youth Liberator Eye Cream (sample).

Another tip if you’re planning on buying any YSL products for Christmas is to actually go at a counter, I’ve seen they offer lovely gift boxes which come in different sizes, they are very nice options to gift wrapping.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.

Again, we’ve all heard about this cult product and I personally think the Original Eight Hour Skin Protectant is an amazing product, just a shame about the scent. You could just buy this cream, around £15 for two tubes but if you are buying for someone else, it’s always nicer to go for a set: the one above is quite nice. You pay £34 for a set worth £67 and get other products from the line. Available here.

Estée Lauder Advance Night Repair Serum Set.

This is another best selling skincare product and again, Christmas is the perfect time to either buy a back-up or gift this cult product to someone you know. This set isn’t particularly exciting, as it basically contains two sizes of the same product (50ml and 7ml) but the small bottle can come in handy when traveling plus the . £58, or currently on offer here.

Lancôme Hypnôse Custom-Wear Volume Mascara Gift Set.

I’m aware that I’ve already included a mascara in this article but, well, this one is also a cult product and it comes in a great value gift set. Worth £40.50, this set is sold at £21 and includes the infamous Lancôme Hypnôse Custom-Wear Volume Mascara, a Bi-Facil (eye makeup remover)and a Le Crayon Khôl. Available here.

I hope this guide was helpful to some of you. Please let me know what are your favourite cult products.

Christmas Gift Guide #3 – Fragrances for her.

Hello everyone.

This is my third ‘Christmas Gift Guide‘ and I thought I’ll focus on fragrances for women in this guide. Just to give you a heads up, I am quite picky and particular about fragrances, so… What can I recommend fragrance wise?

Yves Saint Laurent Manifesto, Gift Set.

This is the latest YSL female fragrance and I have to say I am quite impressed. Tried it out a a counter and I couldn’t stop smelling my hand. It started quite sweet, actually a little too sweet for my taste but then turned into a warmer, grown up fragrance and I would actually love to get myself a bottle.

Whilst the fragrance is available to purchase in three different size bottles, the gift set is actually very nice. I don’t care much for the metallic pouch you get in it but the the 10ml travel spray is a nice bonus added to the 50ml (middle size) eau de parfum bottle, one bottle on the dressing table or in the bathroom and another in your hand bag, perfection. The set retails for £60 but Debenhams has it discounted at the moment, as low as £51.

L’Artisan Parfumeur Mure et Musc – Eau de Toilette.

I’ve written a short article about this fragrance, but in short, it’s a classic, it smells of blackberry and musk and it is a great scent for autumn and winter. £78/100ml here.

Molecule 01 by Escentric Molecules.

I have never smelt this fragrance but I have read and heard about it so much that I just can’t wait to get my hands on a bottle and try it myself. The fragrance apparently smells different on everyone and I’ve only read raves about it. I think this is a perfect present as it is still a relatively unknown product and it basically fits everyone. £64/100ml, here.

DIOR Dolce Vita – Eau de Toilette.

This is my favourite fragrance of all time. I rather like the fact that it’s not a very popular fragrance as I like being the only one wearing it but this sadly means it never comes in a gift set. From £38, here.

There you have it, my fragrance recommendations for Christmas 2012. Have you tried any of these fragrances?
