"A woman who doesn't wear perfume has no future" Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel

No more excuses.

Hello everyone.

Last Tuesday, makeup artist Lisa Eldridge posted a new video to her YouTube channel, as a subscriber, I watched it not excepting to see and hear what I did. She announced that No7 (for who she works as a creative director) has been studying and is is launching a technology that can be qualified as a beauty breakthrough. The device will be held against the naked skin of your jawline and will take measurements to determine which shade of foundation you are.

Not convinced? Hear it from the lady herself…

I am so excited about this news. I know for a fact that I’ve worn foundations that don’t match my skin tone in the past and let’s be honest, most of us have and for two reasons : first, finding a foundation that will match you perfectly is quite the mission and second, most of us are adamant they are wearing the correct shade.

Well this is a free service and you don’t have to buy any product so… For those of you who are worried you might be wearing the wrong colour or just curious, head over to boots.com for more information and to find your nearest store with No7 Foundation Match Made Service. I sure am going! I’d suggest placing bets and seeing if you are matched with the colour you would have picked anyway.

August Favourites.

Hello everyone.

It’s the end of the month and every blogger/YouTuber is posting their monthly favourites, since I now am a beauty blogger too, I figured I’d share with you my most loved lotions and potions of the month.

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat in BD50 has to be my all time favourite when it comes to foundation. It applies beautifully on the skin, leaves a gorgeous dewy finish and smells lovely. I have been using the colour BD50 while I had been fake tanning but it has become a bit too dark now, forcing me to bronze my décolleté and neck. I now have the perfect colour for my skin tone, I mix together BD50 and BD40, perfection. Get yours here or go and get a colour match and a sample at your nearest YSL counter.

I do not get blemishes anymore and I only need a little bit of concealer to cover up old scares and marks, the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer in 03 has been doing the job for a few months now and it has never failed me. I find that mixing two colours works best for me. It’s available here.

I thought it was about time to get a nice bronzer for summer and opted for Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronze Universel Makeup Base as I prefer cream or liquid textures to powders in general. Well this did not disappoint! I love the colour and how it looks on my skin, it blends very well and is build-able. It does not move or transfer. Get yours here.

I use the Real Techniques Contour Brush to apply the Chanel bronzer. The brush with the core collection and I have to say I didn’t use it until I purchased the bronzer, I just didn’t have any use for it. Now that I do, it does the job perfectly well and I love it. Get the Real Techniques Core Collection set here.

I needed something new to fill in my brows so I went to my local M.A.C. counter and bought the Eye Brow pencil in Spiked it’s a good colour, looks natural and does the job. I also now realise how ridiculous my eye brows looked when I was using a different pencil. They are more colours here.

I would wear eye shadow, and I would bother doing fancy eye looks but the truth is, I don’t want to… I want something simple, natural and in a cream texture if possible. M.A.C. Paint Pots are amazing for that. You can use them as a base for your eyeshadows or just on its own and it will look lovely. I’ve been wearing Groundwork all month long, it’s a mid-tone neutral taupe and helps me achieve the look I want with very little hassle involved. More colours available here.

I find it hard to get a red that I am happy to wear on my fingernails and so I am delighted to have found this Essie nail polish in Forever Yummy. Colour looks good next to my skin tone, I don’t feel like I’m wearing something too flashy and I did get compliments from my beautician and my partner. Try this one or another colour here.

Let me tell you a story, I’m sorry if you’ve heard it before, actually no I’m not, you’ve most likely heard it before and I bet it happened to you too. A girl paints her nails, they look gorgeous, she just needs to wait for them to dry before doing anything though. The problem, there is always a delivery man, or a phone call or whatever else to make her move and mess up a couple of her freshly painted nails. That’s when she has to go ahead and remove the polish off all of her nails because the cotton wool and nail polish remover will just mess up them ones that stayed intact anyway. Well fear no more, with Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover, you can just dip a specific nail in and voila! This is a bathroom essential, I can not live without it, and you shouldn’t have to either.Available here.

To finish, I am sure you all heard of Bioderma Créaline H2O Solution Micellaire by now, isn’t it just the most talked about cleansing water? Well it is worth the hype and it is brilliant. It will remove all your makeup, even the most persistent waterproof mascara and all of that without stinging your eyes. Two things you should consider though : you will go through a lot of cotton pads and this product isn’t widely available in the UK. Go here to purchase a pack of two or here to get one bottle.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your current favourites?

Tingle tingle little jar.

Hello everyone.

So as promised, I’ve tried out the GlamGlow Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask and so I can share with you my thoughts on this rather expensive mask.

I received the potion on Thursday morning. My first impression of the packaging : nice, heavy, big. Now by big, I mean very big, and when I opened it I found a very small jar, and it was very heavy too. Not that I’m complaining, it is very well packaged, and I like that very much.

I couldn’t wait to try it, so as soon as I removed all my make up in the evening, I tried it out. The product itself looks like a standard mud mask, it smells lovely, very fresh (some of you might not like it though as it has quite a strong citrusy fragrance). The texture is quite grainy, with lot of small exfoliating beads. I was careful not to rub the mask in to much when applying it. I also had to work fast as it dried quickly. I only had to use the tiniest amount of product for my whole face and neck.

I kept the mask on for just over ten minutes, I kept it longer than advised on the box as I thought it would start tingling but I didn’t feel anything. I just starting rubbing it in circular motion with damp hands. Remember what I stated above? ‘grainy, with a lot of small exfoliating beads‘? Yes, this gave me a serious exfoliation and I generally can’t handle exfoliating products without upsetting my sensitive skin.

How was my skin after rinsing it off? Clean, soft, smooth, amazing. I did not experience any stinging like I would with any other exfoliating potions and this is amazing. It did leave my skin ‘Noticeably Smooth & Soft‘ as it says it would on the box.

Now for those of you who don’t like strong fragranced products or citrusy smells, here is something to consider : the smell will stay on your skin (hands, face and neck) for a while. I used the mask at around 9pm and I could still smell the fragrance hours later when I went to bed.

Another result GlamGlow Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask promises is a ‘Skin Collagen Synthesis for a Noticeable 3-Day Glow’. So was my skin glowing for three days? Well, I can honestly tell you that I have no idea… I woke up this morning and had a tiny blemish on left cheek, I like to think that the mask pulled it to the surface, in which case I have just the product to make it disappear in no time. Apart from that, yes my skin looks good and yes I am happy. I’m not sure that I’ll have a 3-Day Glow so I’m posting this today, but if anything remarkable happens in the next two days, I’ll be sure to update this.

In short, I really like this mask. I didn’t get the tingling (thoughI don’t think I would have liked it anyway) but still, the exfoliating beads didn’t irritate my sensitive skin, my face and neck look and feel amazing. I am one happy lady.

Sure, there is the issue of the RRP… at £49.99 the GlamGlow Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask does not come cheap. As I said in my Late-August/not-quite-September-yet purchases article, ‘£15 off? I couldn’t resist’. I am pretty glad I bought it as this might be the only exfoliating product I can use and as I stated above, I only needed the tiniest amount of product for one application. I think it will last me a while.

For those of you thinking of trying it out, you can get your jar at feelunique.com (it is in the summer sale at 30% off until 9th September 2012 I believe). If you are not sure about spending this much for a 50ml jar, you can always go for 15ml here.

Have you tried the GlamGlow Tingling & Exfoliating Mud Mask too? What are your thoughts on it? Would you spend this much money on a mask?
